What PSA's (Professional service automation) tools does Sync 365 work with?

Sync 365 currently integrates with:

  • ConnectWise Manage
  • Autotask (Datto Autotask)

Does Sync 365 Integrate with My Microsoft Licensing Vendor?

Sync 365 is vendor-agnostic and we connect to your Microsoft Partner Center. This means that regardless of the vendor that you use, we can integrate to your Microsoft Partner Center and get your clients and license information to automate your billing process.

How Does Sync 365 Handle Clients with Mixed Billing Commitments?

For clients with a mix of annual commit billed monthly and monthly commit billed monthly for the same license type, Sync 365 offers a "Bill by Subscription ID" feature. This splits Microsoft licenses by their respective subscriptions, enabling you to:

  • Treat annual commit and monthly commit subscriptions as separate entities.
  • Map annual commits to billing profiles (SKUs) for discounted annual pricing.
  • Map monthly commits to billing profiles (SKUs) for standard monthly pricing.

We bill our clients in arrears at the end of the month for the licenses they have. Will this work?

Absolutely. Sync 365 supports both billing in arrears and billing in advance. Sync 365 takes appropriate action based on the last invoiced date and the specific billing period, ensuring all pro-rata adjustments and changes during the month are accurately captured for precise client billing.

Is there a contract or minimum term?

No, we have no lock in contracts and terms are month to month with a 7 day notice period prior to the next subscription cycle.

Is Pricing Based on Licenses or Tenants?

Sync 365 bills based on the number of companies added to our system. This includes Microsoft License Billing, Azure Consumption Billing, and any Custom Integration Companies for billing.

How much does it cost?

You can find our up to date pricing on this page:

Do You Sync Any Products Besides Microsoft?

Currently, Sync 365 connects with the Microsoft Partner Center for license billing. However, we’re rolling out a Custom API Integration soon, allowing connections to multiple vendors.

If you can relate license counts to our custom license options, Sync 365 can automate billing for the 3rd party license and many other items.

For example, if all managed users are in an Azure AD group, we can track that group and automatically adjust managed user counts for billing purposes.

Do you sync any Azure information

Yes, Sync 365 processes, marks up, and invoices Azure consumption files, making Azure billing simple and efficient.

Is There a Contact Sync Feature?

Yes, Sync 365 syncs contacts from Microsoft 365 into your PSA, including details such as first and last name, email address, department, office, state, and mobile number.

We also provide advanced filtering capabilities, allowing you to sync users by department, state, office, or by specific licenses assigned to them for a particular site in your PSA.

Do you have any monitoring, alert or notifications?

We provide various alerts and notifications to help you manage by exception and maintain control of your processes:

  • No Billing Profile Assigned: Alerts you if a license isn't connected to your PSA.
  • Unused Licenses: Reports on excess licenses that aren't being used across your clients.
  • Under-Provisioned Licenses: Alerts when more licenses are assigned than are active.
  • Tenant Not Added: Notifies you if a tenant from your Partner Center hasn’t been added to Sync 365—helpful when onboarding new clients to ensure nothing gets missed.
  • Tenant Removed: Alerts you when a tenant disappears from your Partner Center. We'll alert you, but won’t cancel licenses in your PSA without your approval.
  • Shared Mailboxes with Licenses Assigned: Identifies shared mailboxes with licenses assigned, which often occurs during user offboarding where a license is mistakenly left active.

Do I Need to Be a Direct or Indirect CSP?

Sync 365 is compatible with both Direct and Indirect CSPs. Direct CSPs benefit from additional functionality, including detailed subscription data and a self-service end-user portal for clients.

Do You Have an End User Portal for Clients to Manage Licenses?

Yes, we provide an End User Portal for Direct CSPs to allow clients to manage licenses. The current version allows users to increase or decrease license counts for active subscriptions.

In Version 2 (coming in 2025), clients will also be able to order new subscriptions and have new orders automatically linked to your PSA and billed.

How Does Sync 365 Handle NCE?

Sync 365 is fully NCE-compatible as part of our syncing process. To handle NCE effectively, we recommend creating product SKUs for each product type you sell, such as:

  • Microsoft Business Premium Monthly Commit
  • Microsoft Business Premium Annual Commit (2023) - Billed Monthly

To keep up with Microsoft’s pricing changes, it’s best to create product SKUs that clearly indicate the commitment type and billing period (e.g., year/month) for accurate records.

What Happens If a Service/Product Becomes Inactive in My PSA?

If a product SKU/service in your PSA (like Autotask or ConnectWise) becomes inactive, we’ll send you a notification in our daily error log email. This error will indicate that the billing profile has an invalid product/service, allowing you to either fix the PSA entry or update the billing profile with the correct product SKU.
